Acceptable Use Policy

What we expect from every member, so this stays a safe and respectful community.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses Shot in the Dark Dating. It works alongside our Terms and Conditions. Violating this AUP may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account.

1. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in, recruit for, facilitate, or promote human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or non-consensual sexual activity of any kind.
  • Upload, share, solicit, request, or in any way engage with Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), or use the Service to sexualize, exploit, or endanger a minor.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or abuse another member, whether physically, sexually, financially, or emotionally.
  • Impersonate another person, or create an account using false identity information, including a fake age or photo.
  • Use the Service if you are under 18 years old.
  • Solicit money, gifts, financial information, or financial assistance from another member ("romance scams").
  • Engage in fraudulent activity of any kind intended to negatively affect other members or the Service, including but not limited to identity fraud, payment or billing fraud, chargeback abuse, fake or duplicate accounts created to deceive other members, or any other dishonest or deceptive practice meant to harm, mislead, or take advantage of another member.
  • Advertise, solicit, or offer commercial services, including prostitution or paid companionship.
  • Post, share, or send unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or discriminatory content.
  • Send spam, unsolicited advertising, or bulk messages to other members.
  • Attempt to access another member's account, or collect other members' personal information without consent for any purpose outside normal use of the Service.
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service, including scraping data or reverse-engineering the platform.
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose, or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law.

2. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

We have zero tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or any use of the Service that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor. If we discover or are notified of CSAM on the Service, we will immediately remove the content, terminate the account involved, preserve relevant evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) and to law enforcement, as required by law. If you become aware of CSAM or suspect a minor is using the Service, report it to us immediately at shotinthedarkdating@aol.com rather than attempting to investigate it yourself.

3. Reporting a Violation

If you believe another member has violated this policy, or you feel unsafe as a result of an interaction on the Service, contact us right away at shotinthedarkdating@aol.com. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

4. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations of this AUP and take any action we deem appropriate, including warning a member, suspending or terminating an account, and reporting conduct to law enforcement where required or appropriate. See our Law Enforcement Requests page for how we handle legal requests for information.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
