How billing, trials, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations work.
Last updated: July 25, 2026
New members receive a free 30-day trial when they sign up. You will not be charged during your trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your membership will automatically begin and your card on file will be charged for your selected plan.
Memberships are billed monthly in advance, starting when your free trial ends (or immediately, if you sign up for a plan without a trial). Charges are processed securely through our payment processor, Stripe.
If you upgrade to a higher membership tier, you will be charged the price difference immediately, prorated for the remainder of your current billing cycle. Your new plan and its benefits begin right away.
If you downgrade to a lower membership tier, you will keep the benefits of your current (higher) plan through the end of your current billing cycle. You will not be charged again until your next billing date, at which point you'll be billed at your new, lower plan's price.
You may cancel your membership at any time from your account dashboard under "Manage Plan." Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you will retain access to your membership benefits through the end of the period you've already paid for.
Because memberships are billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time before the next billing date, we generally do not provide refunds for partial months or unused time within a billing period. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at shotinthedarkdating@aol.com and we will review it.
Event ticketing is not yet available on Shot in the Dark Dating. Refund terms for event tickets will be published here once event ticket sales launch.
