Law Enforcement Requests

How we handle legal requests for account information.

Last updated: July 25, 2026

Shot In The Dark takes the safety of our members seriously and cooperates with law enforcement agencies investigating misuse of our Service, including trafficking, exploitation, fraud, and threats to a member's safety.

1. Valid Legal Process Required

We disclose account information to law enforcement only in response to valid legal process — such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant issued by a court of competent jurisdiction — or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to a person.

2. Emergency Requests

If you are a law enforcement officer responding to an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to a member, contact us at shotinthedarkdating@aol.com with details of the emergency and your agency contact information.

3. How to Submit a Request

Legal requests should be sent to shotinthedarkdating@aol.com or mailed to our address on the Contact page, on official agency letterhead, identifying the specific account and information sought.

4. Data Preservation

We will take reasonable steps to preserve account records upon receipt of a valid preservation request, in accordance with applicable law.

5. Notice to Members

Except where prohibited by law or a court order, we may notify a member before disclosing their information in response to a legal request.
